Take care
To my surprise, Naya doesn't seem to be upset with me. I still keep my distance. We take care of the children with motherly tenderness. I supervise the teenagers. The others divide the children by age group. Killer goes from group to group with a preference for girls under six. It's a good thing he's a dog, otherwise I'd be wondering.
Katia sticks to me and doesn't want to leave me. Her nerves finally give out, like those of all the other teenagers. We spend our evenings listening to the teenagers crying, reassuring them and congratulating them, as soon as the little ones are in bed. We spend our nights rocking the kids who have nightmares. Killer stays in the girls' dormitory and sometimes squats in the bed of one of them.
The farm is transformed into a giant kindergarten, with a profusion of games, stuffed animals and candies. All day long, we multiply the fun and playful activities. The workshops of drawing, coloring, painting, modeling clay, cooking follow one another. Motor skills are worked on with bikes, scooters, climbing wall, beads to make, stickers to stick. We are slowly trying to teach reading, writing and numbers to the younger children.
The older children also have their own activities. Swimming and horseback riding lessons are offered, and the basics of mathematics and French are gently taught. They make these little birdhouses and nesting boxes or help us in our daily activities.
A contest of the most beautiful jump in the mud has already given back a part of carefree spirit to the youngest. A make-up session and beauty salon for the girls and a game console for the boys as well. Katia, it is the marshmallows at the corner of the night fire which stopped her nightmares or the fact of sleeping with me and Mélia during fifteen days.
After two weeks, the adults come to take over. The children feel safer with young people like the Kawais. We send them back to other places except for a teacher and professor Noguerra. Mélia decides to keep the children near her with her friends. She will slowly get them used to adults again, to the simple joys of childhood. For the children, I finally settle somewhere.
For Katia whose only family is Mélia and I. For the teenagers who grew up too fast and need a big sister to take care of them. For the children who treat me as Xena the warrior or as Wonder-woman.
I'm not a gentle, caring mom. I am more the one who tries to teach discipline to a bunch of unruly kids who listen to me with a distracted ear. I find myself repeating phrases from Papinou and Richard, rambling like an old woman.
The advantage of the farm is that I don't have any guys on my back. So I pamper our refugees without worrying about the latest upheaval. My maternal side expresses itself in its own way and although I grumble very often, I am rather appreciated by my little monsters. The teenagers admire me for my knowledge of campfires, building cabins, explosive things and, above all, my ability to remain perfectly calm in the middle of a herd of screaming gremlims.
I talked to Naya again. She confirmed that her relationship was not going well and that they were thinking of breaking up long before Damien kissed me. She believed me when I told her I had pushed Damien away. She even gave me her blessing if I wanted to get together with Damien. I was hallucinating when she told me about her ex's qualities to get me to contact him. My god.... If she only knew the truth, who my heart fell for in second grade.
Sarah, on the other hand, advertises for Blaise and Lilou for Thibaut. I have three matchmakers on my back. Mélia and Fleur are laughing. They propose all the other guys of our age. Katia also explodes with laughter the day Mélia explains the situation to her. This traitorous double even shows pictures of the boys to Katia and the other teenage girls. I am subjected to debates about who is the cutest. I have a herd of horny girls who each have their favorite. My threats to Melia are in vain. She and Katia know the truth and take advantage of it to make me angry. My revenge will be terrible.
The girls and even the teenage boys have started betting to see who I will end up with. This is the new fun at the farm, trying to convince Megan that her pet is the best for her. Carambars and strawberry tagadas are up for grabs. Blaise is the one with the best odds, although Damien is very close. I leave the doubt hanging, pretending to fall for one and then the other, bringing Thibaut back to the forefront sometimes to start the gossip again.
To raise the stakes a little, I added Alex, the distracted and shy companion, without much success. For the moment, Blaise is judged the cutest, Damien the one who will best resist to my character and Thibaut, the most patient and the one who will know how to calm me down. I refuse to give my answer and make the whole farm cry with rage.
NO, BUT WHAT A BITCH! Melia invited the boys, supposedly to provide a male role model for children and teenagers. I'm gonna kill her. I mean it. I love her more than my own life though, I'm gonna kill her. She also dares to exploit them by making them believe that the sight of them brooding over the kids will make me melt. Katia, Naya and the Kawais are accomplices to the crime. It's going to be bad. I boil internally all day, not being able to mime a knife to their throat without scaring the little monsters. My fury makes them even happier. The boys redouble their attention to the little ones. Real daddies hen.
I smile all the same when I see a four year old chipie batting her eyelashes at Damien who loses his speech, when I catch Blaise riding a horse for another one and Thibaut in the middle of a debate about the powers of superheroes with two kids. They too were trapped by my double of love. I wouldn't do anything to help them, and I'd add a layer by pretending to be ecstatic. At least the children will benefit.
Fleur is the only one who sympathizes with my suffering. So that she understands the situation well, I confess my little secret to her. The one that Katia and Mélia keep under seal. That is worth to her an unstoppable mad laugh until the evening. If she manages to calm down, she starts to laugh again as soon as she meets my glance or sees the boys. Sarah ends up asking her girlfriend what is causing her laughter. Fleur looks at me without daring to answer. It's my turn to talk to my friends. Boys and girls. I gather them all together in the evening, once the children are asleep.
- Well, I'm not going to beat about the bush. I slept with all three boys. I was kissed by all three. Gentlemen, you each have your own fan club. However, you are and will remain my friends. I am not attracted to men, but to girls. I am homosexual like Sarah and Fleur. So you have no hope of me becoming your girlfriend. Oh and Melia has always known this and has shamelessly taken advantage of the situation to make you slave away.
Mélia and Katia roll on the floor with laughter. After a few seconds, Naya joins them in their laughter. It is Blaise the first of the boys to react. He takes well the thing. At least, like that, their rivalry falls to the water. As a joke, he asks me who kisses better. So in revenge, I answer with a big smile and a wink.
- NAYA. My first kiss. My first teenage crush. And even Melia didn't know that.
And bang, the twin! You didn't know that. I'm proud of her open mouth in surprise.
Naya explains to them, crying with laughter, that we kissed one night during my first year of high school, during a game of truth or dare where we were both drunk. Damien's face is indescribable. In order to get even, like the two dirty bitches that we are, Naya and I loudly declare that we are going to sleep together tonight.
We walk away arm in arm, while the others digest the news. We will share the room in all honor. She is totally straight and I know how to behave. It's just to piss off Damien. Besides, Katia and Mélia are not mistaken by sending me the head of fish gobbling flies of the guys.
We leave the doubt on our "couple" during some days. It is all the more appreciable that Damien is jealous as a louse. Blaise, who has understood, adds a layer by proposing us threesomes. All except Damien end up understanding our joke. We piss ourselves with laughter in front of his grumpy attitude. Naya asks me to make the game last a little longer. She wants to reconquer Damien and to titillate his jealousy is an excellent means.
